 •  Application Procedures

UCSF School of Nursing offers the following academic/educational program options for prospective students and scholars.

Each specialty area defines a course of study leading to the Master of Science degree, including the Masters Core Curriculum as well as specific course work relevant to each specialty area. Also, specialties prepare the student for certification, as appropriate, as either a clinical nurse specialist or nurse practitioner. Some specialty areas include sub-specialty, optional, or focus choices to meet individual student needs.

Note:  each applicant to the MS program must choose (during the application process) a selected specialty area from the among the choices in the list above.

Minors

Some masters students may also elect to choose a "minor" in addition to their designated specialty area.  A minor typically consists of three or more courses as identified in the detail pages listed below.

In some masters specialties, a focus area is offered which aligns with an similar minor.
